73-Ten of Pattern – Reversed Mage Deck

Your Chosen Card – Ten of Patens Reversed Mage Deck

When reversed, the Ten of Coins hints at a family feud related to financial insecurity or a matter of legacy or inheritance. The person in charge of planning for the needs of his or her dependents has instead been guilty of unwise speculation or poor financial planning. Complete Book of Tarot: A case in point occurred in Burma in 1987 during the dictatorship of Ne Win, a superstitious leader who was overly dependent on the advice of numerologists. Ne Win was convinced that his lucky number was nine. As a result, on September 5 of that year, the Burmese government announced (without warning or compensation) that it was demonetizing the 25-, 35- and 75-kyat notes because these denominations were not divisible by nine and were thus unlucky. In addition, 45- and 90-kyat notes were introduced because they were divisible by nine. The effect of this sudden change in the currency was devastating. In the blink of an eye, 75 percent of the country’s currency became worthless, causing families to lose their life savings. Riots followed, and a military coup overthrew Ne Win in 1988. When all was said and done, nine did not turn out to be such a lucky number for the superstitious dictator!

Reversed Cards: The Ten of Pentacles in Llewellyn’s Classic Tarot shows hints of the Fool, his dog, the Magician, and his wand. Could it be that in the upright position we are finally able to accept that we create our own magic and that each journey brings its own rewards? If this is the case, then here in the blocked aspect, you are still struggling to allow your gifts to benefit you—or anyone else, for that matter. All you have to do is stop resisting your gifts and talents and allow yourself to be blessed with that which is yours by divine right.

Tarot for Beginners: Some readers will periodically sort through their decks to be sure that each card is facing the same way so that reversed cards never appear. On the other hand, others actually ensure that reversed cards will appear, by turning sections of the deck around when cutting it before the reading begins. These readers find that reversed cards add an extra depth to the reading that can’t be discovered if all the cards are facing the same way. Some will argue that the reading is too ‘one-sided’ if the reverse meanings are ignore, but others will say that focusing more on the interaction or ‘conversation’ among all the cards in the spread is really what provides the most accuracy.

Reversed Cards: I know it’s hard to believe that there could possibly be a downside to this card, but there is a lot of fear that surrounds having it all or reaching your ultimate goal. Sometimes we don’t know what happens next or even if there is something that comes after what we have just achieved. These sorts of questions can become like a built-in sabotaging trigger that stops you from ever truly reaching the finish line of the Ten of Pentacles. If this card has come up for you, now is the time for contemplation and finding a way to work through this fear.
