When upright, the Ten of Coins depicts a secure family environment populated by several generations, including the family dogs. The patriarch of the family apparently has provided well for his children and grandchildren and will no doubt leave them an inheritance. There is little point in accumulating wealth only to hoard it. The family on this card is enjoying the benefits of sound financial planning and wise investments. Even the family’s pets are well cared for.

Koestler came to represent the Strength card, able to withstand the most devastating of circumstances and keep his head, wait things out until the situation improves (he was released from prison), and still create something beautiful out of it.

Complete Book of Tarot: The Golden Dawn assigned the first decan of Leo to the Prince of the Chariot of Fire, that is, the Marseille King of Wands. The confusion arises because the Golden Dawn views Princes as traditional Kings, symbolized by the regal sign Leo and the royal star Regulus, but at the same time it views the Knights as the most senior members of the court cards. As Crowley stated, there is no easy way, based in logic, to resolve this dilemma, so choices have to be made.
