31-Ten of Wands – Upright Salem Deck

Your Chosen Card – Ten of Wands Upright Salem Deck

When upright, the Ten of Wands suggests that you have worked hard and have achieved a great deal, but now your success is weighing you down. Your sense of duty and your willingness to shoulder obligations have been assets along the way, but the time has come to delegate and share the load. Make sure that the burden you carry is not the result of deceit or falsehood. Your commitment to a job well done is admirable, but there are others who are now willing to share the responsibility for the future outcome. You need to lighten up; otherwise your workaholism will take a toll in other areas of your life.

Keywords Upright: Willingness to take on a heavy load, carrying the weight of success, a sense of responsibility, ability to delegate, sharing the workload with others, accepting support.

Timing: 20 Sagittarius–30 Sagittarius. Tropical, 13 December–23 December. Sidereal, 4 January–13 January.
Astrology: The stern taskmaster Saturn in the third decan of fiery Sagittarius, realm of the Queen of Disks (Water of Earth) and Temperance (Sagittarius). Saturn is linked to the World.
Number Symbolism: 10 – one too many, the fullness of completion, readiness to begin a new cycle.

Crowley/Thoth: Oppression, cruelty, malice, injustice, revenge, overbearing strength.

When Ten of Wands is upright you can pretty much take it that life is going well but that’s when life takes us by surprise.  If Ten of Wands is unclear it may help to choose a card from the Major Arcana to provide more insight into what it is Ten of Wands is trying to tell you.  If you had a particular issue in  mind, or want to seek clarification on something else, you can also choose again to get more guidance.

Elements of the Psychic World: Below are some traditional interpretations of the Major Arcana, based on the Rider Waite pack. These are by no means the only set of meanings that exist for the tarot. Different traditions are followed in different countries and even between different decks, and it is universally agreed that by far the best interpretation you can give a tarot card is the one you feel and sense yourself in response to the image on the card.

Tarot Books

Complete Book of Tarot: Card 8, the experience of those surrounding the querent, was the Ten of Wands showing a man walking along with a burden of ten wands. Perhaps those around him were feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Complete Book of Tarot: In the late 1960s, an astrologer friend introduced me to the tarot. At first I was put off by the cards’ ambiguity. Unlike astrology, whose predictions were mathematically precise, tarot interpretations seemed very subjective and less rule-bound. In the early 1970s, I read a book by Eden Gray (now a classic) that made the cards more understandable, but their interpretation remained vague and imprecise in my hands.
