20-Karma – Upright Salem Deck

Your Chosen Card – Karma Upright Salem Deck

When upright, the Judgment card’s trumpet awakens you to a new phase of existence. Perhaps you are entering a period of rebirth and transformation that will require you to make an important decision. Having heard the call, are you ready to make the necessary changes and set out on the path of rejuvenation and renewal? Redemption requires the acceptance of responsibility for past behavior and a commitment to do things better next time.

Keywords Upright: A calling, awakening from slumber, a new era, judging and being judged, re-assessment, judgment day, reanimation, someone clamoring for your attention, stepping into a new life, a final reckoning, rebirth, resurrection, renewal, a last chance, release from the underworld, being reenergized, rising from the dead, forgiveness, entering another phase of existence, rising from one’s ashes, rescue, starting anew, a clean slate.

Key XX: Judgment (Aeon)
Myths/Archetypes: The Last Judgment. The Angel of Resurrection. The Avenging Angel. The phoenix rising from its ashes. Persephone being rescued from the underworld. The Tooth Fairy.
Astrology: Fire (Pluto in some modern decks). Both the element Fire and the dwarf planet Pluto are associated with purgation, renewal, and purification.
Numerology: 2 (High Priestess) = 1 + 1 (Justice or Strength) = 2 + 0 (Judgment)

Hebrew letter: Shin or Sin (the two front teeth, ivory; a Hebrew word meaning tooth, sharp; also to sharpen, press, eat, consume, destroy, to sharpen a blade, to say sharp words, to sharpen one’s mind; two of something, both, second). The letter Shin’s appearance in the lex talionis probably accounts for its association with the Last Judgment: ‘ … an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth … ‘

When Karma is upright you can pretty much take it that life is going well but that’s when life takes us by surprise.  If Karma is unclear it may help to choose a card from the Major Arcana to provide more insight into what it is Karma is trying to tell you.  If you had a particular issue in  mind, or want to seek clarification on something else, you can also choose again to get more guidance.

Here are some snippets from a few of my favorite books

Portable Magic
Book Details
Portable Magic: This system does not require the purchase of a special Tarot deck. Any Tarot of seventy-eight cards will be effective. The occult correspondences of the Golden Dawn upon which the entire system is based are independent of the details of the card images, so the differences between the Rider Waite deck and the Crowley Thoth deck, for example, do not determine the success of the magic worked. The magic is not in the cards, which are merely tools used to construct rituals and to represent various instruments and forces. The magic is in the person using them. The cards act to focus and project the power of the mind.

Tarot Books

Creative Tarot: I started to develop my own readings, built specifically to help me with my own process. And they helped—tremendously. So much so that I started to think I should start offering my own services as a reader. By this time, I had been studying the tarot for eight years. I felt confident that I did a good job at it. I felt like I had a unique perspective to provide.

Complete Book of Tarot: Since most modern tarot decks rely heavily on this symbolism, we will be referring to the four elements throughout this text. The following list summarizes some of the key meanings and associations of each of the elements:

  • Do get in touch if you looked for Karma and we don’t have it listed. We would be more than happy to source the information for you. We hope you visit again for more online tarot information!

Tarot Triumphs: I also recommend studying Tarot as a self-contained system, rather than trying to work out straightaway how it might correspond to astrology, Kabbalah, Christianity, or any other framework. Once you have acquired facility with the cards, and are confident of knowing the system, then it’s fine to consider other attributions.10
