Career, Work Or Retirement:
The honeymoon period may be over in your work life when you receive The reversed Six of Cups. However, this does not have to be a bad thing, it’s simply that your rose colored glasses are off now and you are seeing your surroundings more clearly. Think long and hard before deciding if you need to take some sort of action due to perceived wrongs in the workplace. Many battles are worth fighting, many are not. Trust yourself to know the difference.
Card Meanings: Leaving Home, Growing Up, Letting Go Of The Past, Maturity, Disappointment, Friendship, Childhood Abuse, Boredom, Rose-Tinted View Of The Past, Stagnation, Resolving Childhood Issues, Lack Of Creativity, Independence, Focusing On The Future, Being Stuck In The Past, Past, Stolen Innocence
The Six of Cups is often a card about nostalgia; looking back on how things ‘used’ to be. It can be (but is not always) connected with children or childhood.

Here are some snippets from a few of my favorite books
Portable Magic: In Tarot magic, as in life, there can be too much of a good thing. Just as it is usually unwise to use all seven planetary modifiers at once, so also is it a bad practice to employ a large number of realizers. By trying to define the outcome of the ritual too narrowly, its freedom of working will be choked and inhibited. Magic needs a little wiggle room in which to fulfil itself. The number tarot cards that realize the ritual should express only the purpose itself, not rigorously plot out its unfolding. From one to three number tarot cards works best. More may be used, but as they are multiplied on the triangle, the likelihood of a successful ritual goes down. Strive for clarity and simplicity when constructing rituals, and concentrate on the desire fulfilled, not the manner of its fulfilment.

Creative Tarot: I assigned one card per section. My essays about love? The Six of Cups. I gave the Five of Coins to my essays about poverty and political action. And so on. The Seven of Coins did not line up perfectly with my more humorous essays, but as that card often indicates a pause, I thought it could represent a pause for the reader: a bit of lightness after dealing with some of the darker material.
Tarot Triumphs: In many early Tarot packs, Death was not named. The act of naming might invoke his fearful presence, so it was safer to include him only as an image, along with his number, the so-called ‘unlucky’ thirteen. People were all too aware that the grim reaper with his scythe could strike suddenly, and that he had no pity on those from any station in life. The Dance of Death was a common subject to engrave or paint, with Death cutting a swathe through human society. In the Middle Ages and later, Death was often shown as slaughtering the Pope or Emperor first to make a point that those at the top of society were no more protected from his blow than the poor and humble.39 However, there was an entertainment value in Death too; then as now, people liked to frighten themselves with the macabre, and the Triumph of Death was a surprisingly popular part of the carnival celebration in the streets. His prevailing image was either that of a skeleton, as here in the Tarot, or his biblical appearance as a ‘rider on a pale horse.’40 In Northern Italy, the probable birthplace of Tarot, Death rode through the streets on a huge oxcart, accompanied by the Angel of the last Trump.41

Reversed Cards: If you ever wanted to know why this card is so attractive, look no further than its planetary influence, Venus. Venus, which is connected to the Empress, wants to make all her children happy, so she shows them all that is possible. But like all good parents, she doesnt walk the path for you. No, that part is all you. If this card has shown up in the retrograde aspect, you may be feeling abandoned or alone on your quest for success, happiness, and fulfillment, but the truth is you have not been forsaken. Quite the opposite. You probably just missed the open door left by the Divine Mother for you to walk through. Retrace your steps or look at the cards before this one to see clues you overlooked in your haste to get to the end result.
