Well-Being, Physical Health Or Mental Health:

It’s possible that your medical practitioner is not open to hearing what you have to say and may doubt your interpretation of events and symptoms, with The reversed King of Swords in the reading. It may help to keep records. Overall, though, it is your responsibility to advocate for yourself and if your current medical doctor is not open to hearing your concerns; you may need to switch to one who will.

Card Meanings: Lack Of Integrity/Morals/Discipline, Brutal, Intelligence Used In A Bad Way, Weak, Cynical, Dishonest, Inhumane, Irrational, Judgmental, Lack Of Structure/Routine, Losing Your Head, Controlling, Cold, Dictator, Evil Intentions, Obstinate, Oppressive, Rude, Powerless, Illogical, Violent, Intimidation, Power-Crazed, Judgments, Aggressive, Ruthless

The King of Swords often stands in for a powerful, opinionated, forceful man in the querent’s life. He will often, but not always, have hair on the darker end of the spectrum. You may be tempted to think only about how things affect you personally, particularly when this card does not represent a man in your life. Consider the feelings of others before you act.

Elements of the Psychic World: There isn’t any accepted scientific and medical evidence that chakras exist, but recently they have begun to be acknowledged in the West in alternative medicine. Clairvoyants say that they can diagnose the health of chakras by energy scans with the hands and that health problems often show up in chakras months or even years before they manifest in the body. When the chakras are balanced and healthy, their colours are clear and their rotation smooth, but in poor health they become cloudy and irregular in rotation. Blocked chakras are thought to cause health problems, and in alternative healing therapies there are various techniques for clearing chakra blockages, including visualization, colour therapy, acupuncture and energy healing.

Reversed Cards: The rebellious side of the King of Swords is often at the forefront when the king’s ruling planet of Uranus is retrograding. This normally forward-thinking king who, generally speaking, has his mind on the greater good is currently more concerned with rocking the boat and doing things for shock value. In many respects, the retrograde aspect has him acting more like his counterpart, the Fool, than his normal regal self. Careless and foolhardy, you might find a small amount of liberation from this retrograde energy. I mean, it is nice not to take everything so darn seriously for a change.

Tarot Triumphs: One common interpretation is that these two ladies represent Vice (sometimes called Sensuality) and Virtue. This is borne out by various emblems independent of Tarot packs, such as the one in Orbis Sensualium Pictus by Comenius (1658), where his illustration no. 109 under ‘Moral Philosophy’ shows much the same picture, with the two women positively tugging the young man in different directions!21 Comenius’s written description here encompasses the teaching of Pythagoras on the importance of wise choices: ‘This Life is a way, or a place divided into two ways, like Pythagoras’s Letter Y. Broad, on the left hand track; narrow, on the right; that belongs to Vice, this to Virtue.’ So there is, perhaps, a kind of implicit sacred geometry embedded here with the forking symbol of lover and ladies indicating the diverging pathways.

Reversed Cards: Let’s face it. If you have gotten the Six of Cups in the retrograde aspect, you are allowing yourself to live in the emotional waters of the past. Scorpio loves to indulge in past pleasures, but it is not the best place to have your head, especially when you are trying to move forward. The good news is that if you have received this card in the retrograde aspect, you are meant to be looking for lessons. Not just any lessons, either—lessons on love, forgiveness, and fidelity, all lit by this card’s ruling planet, the sun. Relationships are complicated, and sometimes good ones get away. Seek what you need in the past, but only bring back what will assist you in the present.
