Book Details
Elements of the Psychic World: Sometimes associated with geomancy, a Western practice that works with the magnetic and life force energies of the earth, Feng Shui is the ancient and complex Chinese art of placement to enhance the flow of ‘chi’ or universal life force in an environment. It is the belief that how items are placed in living and work areas affect the health, wellbeing and success of those who live and work there. Making changes to a room’s layout can assist or block the flow of chi and the goal of Feng Shui is to determine what changes need to be made to an environment so that positive energy and good fortune are attracted to it.

Creative Tarot: With the Seven of Wands, those negative voices can also just be destructive thoughts. “I am not good enough.” “This is not good enough.” And so on. Sometimes you have to fight yourself down, too.

Tarot Triumphs: What kind of divination system is the Tarot? After a brief look at the context of divination, we move on now to focus almost exclusively on this intriguing set of cards. Tarot comprises a set of images, twenty-two powerful symbols that are very specific but that have an archetypal, universal quality. Almost anyone, from any culture, can pick up the cards and find some recognizable, meaningful symbolism there. The Sun, for instance, as one of the Triumphs, is a real celestial body that all human beings are aware of. There are shared interpretations across the globe: everyone acknowledges that it represents warmth and light, and to many it can therefore stand as an emblem of truth and energy, for instance. But our specific culture and affinities will also shape our perceptions of what it symbolizes. Alchemists look for the image of the sun in their vessel, as a harbinger of the gold they are making; Christians may see Christ as the eternal sun in their lives; and Jungians may greet the presence of the sun in a dream as a welcome sign of individuation.

Reversed Cards: I would argue that no matter what orientation this card is, the Devil is always in mirror mode. It is a reflective card whether we like to admit it or not. Bad habits, toxic people, addictions, toxic thoughts, crappy diet, and all the other elements of self-harm are flung in our faces when the Devil shows up. He reminds us that none of us ever shows up with clean hands. We all have faults and flaws, and hardly any of us can look ourselves in the mirror and tell ourselves we are loved. When this card shows up in a reading or daily draw, all of your fear, doubt, shame, guilt, and pain is reflected right back to you. It doesn’t matter if he is upside down or right-side up, the feelings the Devil invokes are all the same. So let us take a moment and examine some of these feelings, because the only way to learn the lessons the Devil has to offer is to sit and take a good hard look at the mirror he holds up.
