Career, Work Or Retirement:

In relation to work questions, The reversed Page indicates that you may soon be dealing with some unexpected conflict at work or a message you were not expecting. Neither is necessarily a bad thing, just take a few minutes to think before you respond. If you’re seeking work, know that some employers are very likely to do intensive background checks before hiring you. Be prepared to respond about questions regarding your past and/or about information you consider personal, like your credit score.

The Page of Swords can sometimes stand in for a literal person in our lives. If so, in this case, The Page will represent a person who is younger than the querent, who is likely to have hair on the darker end of the spectrum. The Page also often indicates that a message is coming. In this instance, it may not be what you were hoping to hear.

Portable Magic: It is best to keep the deck of cards employed in ritual magic separate and wrapped in a square of linen or some other natural cloth, in order to preserve this useful quality of a sustained astral charge. The cards should not be handled by others, or even shown to them. A ritual is a very private activity, unless it is specifically designed to be worked by a group. The tools of ritual are not for curious eyes the system presented here is intended for the solitary practitioner. Keep the deck separate and use it only for Tarot

Creative Tarot: Not everyone has it in them to write a book. That’s what the Page of Swords can represent: a great idea with no outlet. Maybe it’s lack of discipline, maybe it’s lack of free time, but the idea stays only an idea, unless it meets up with the type of person who does have the necessary attributes to write a book.

Tarot Triumphs: The Devil in this pack is a grotesque creature. The image we have here is apparently a stock type of devil, which originated with the Persians and Egyptians, reaching us via Byzantine art. Some Tarot card designers (as is evident in the Rider-Waite pack) have decided to make him more majestically horrible, a serious force of evil, instead of this squat, hairy creature. The Marseilles version of the Devil seems androgynous, with a female chest but male genitals, and he is also part beast and part bat with his claws, branching horns, and leathern wings. Sometimes he has gaping mouths depicted on his chest or stomach. Curiously enough, in Northern Italy at the same time as the Tarot emerged, similar images were used to portray ‘monstrous births’ occurring in the population; this tells us that, however far-fetched these pictures were in terms of portraying babies with birth defects, there was a genuine horror of anything half-human. The Devil, then, might also indicate that danger of losing our humanity and sinking into a bestial state.46

Reversed Cards: There really is a difference between tenacity, stupidity, and being a bully. Sure, they all share the never-give-up, never-surrender attitude, but that’s where the similarity ends. If this card has shown up in the shadow aspect, you are walking a thin line between being stupid and being a bully. You are making waves just because you can and bringing confrontation everywhere you go. The real question is, why? Even if standing your ground and being stubborn has just become a survival habit, right now in this position it is not serving you and is only making things worse. Put down your wand and find an alternative before it’s too late.
