18-The Moon Reversed Golden Love Tarot Reading

Romance, Love Or Relationships:

As with an upright meaning, The reversed Moon can point to a highly emotional and/or uncomfortable time in love relationships. Things can quickly become heated and/or negative. Take a break from each other and/or the relationship if you need to. Don’t make assumptions, and fight fairly, if you’re going to fight. Don’t ignore your intuition, however. To do so would make you even more irritable, upset, and perhaps, anxious. Pick your battles and be sure to treat your lover like a friend. Don’t be in a hurry to end or to begin a relationship. This is probably not the best time for either course of action.

Card Meanings: Negative Advantage, Truth, Subsiding Anxiety, Regaining Composure, Unveiling Secrets, Releasing Fear, Trifling Mistakes, Deception Discovered, Self-Deception

The Moon indicates that things may seem somewhat confusing to you now. You may find it hard to understand where you are coming from, much less what others are thinking and feeling! You need to try to sit with the uncertainty, don’t try to force things or people to do things before they are ready. This card is the ‘Pisces’ of the deck.

Development for Beginners: In a cosmic nut shell, the zodiac represents a system of ecliptic coordinates, which extends 8-9 degrees both north and south of the sun’s path and includes the moon and planetary objects that also remain within a meteorite’s throw of the ecliptic.

Creative Tarot: Whichever deck is most comfortable for you is the right tarot deck. There are a lot of options out there. I have several different decks—including the Spolia deck I made with the artist Jen May—and I switch them out, depending on mood. Tarot decks can get a little addictive; the art is so beautiful, and each one has a different feel. My own favorites are the Golden, a contemporary deck that features medieval art; the Haindl, a very complex and nontraditional German deck; and the Minchiate, a Renaissance-era deck that has 96 cards instead of the more standard 78. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses. I find the Minchiate most helpful for creative issues, but I’ll almost always turn to the Golden if I have a problem with love. Feel free to experiment. There are online resources such as Facade (www.facade.com) that feature databases of images from a wide range of decks.

Portable Magic: The Nines are the crystallization of the elemental energies flowing through the suits, the final stage of their evolution before they become fixed in matter. There is strong duality in all of them, like the dark and bright faces of the Moon, since this formative energy can be well or ill-used, but in either instance is potent in its density.
