Faith, Spirituality Or Psychic Progression:

When it comes to spirituality, The reversed Four indicates a need for NO action, rather than pushing yourself further. Stillness, meditation, and rest, can open up your spirit more now than anything else you could possibly do or attend. Consider meditation on the following: ‘Peace, Be Still.’

Card Meanings: Re-Joining The World, Restlessness, Social Unrest, Awakening, Not Accepting Counselling Or Support, Lack Of Self-Protection, Finding Mental Strength, Mental Breakdown/ Collapse, Labor Strikes, Recovering Slowly, Renewed Activity, Coming Out Of Isolation, Burn-Out, Healing, Not Taking Care Of Yourself

The Four of Dynamism is a card that signifies a break (or need for a break) from normal life. This can also mean that you or someone in your life may withdraw for a time. This withdrawal is not likely to be permanent. It also occasionally means illness or time in the hospital or (even more rarely) in jail. It’s a clear signifier to give people their space.

Book Details
Elements of the Psychic World: Drawing on the communications with spirits through Japhet, Rivail (now Kardec) expanded spiritism beyond a basic belief in survival after death to claim that reincarnation was essential for spiritual progress and to understand and heal suffering – in particular epilepsy and multiple personality disorder (the latter being thought to be caused by interference from past incarnations). Kardec accepted spirit communication on faith alone and through his monthly magazine La Revue

Reversed Cards: Tonglen is a Buddhist practice taught to students to help them overcome fear and anxiety. It is a meditation practice based on transformation, transmutation, and, in many respects, alchemy. When I think about the Tonglen process, I always think about the Temperance card. In Tonglen the student is taught to breathe in suffering to bring it right into the heart, turn it into love, and then breathe it back out again. Inhale pain and suffering and exhale love and compassion. It truly is a beautiful practice and one I personally do as often as possible. But here in the shadow aspect of Temperance, you have forgotten the love and compassion part of the alchemy process. Instead, you are taking in and taking on the pain and suffering of not only yourself but all of those around you. Now, you might think this is just who you are, that this is what you do when you work with healing energy, but the truth is that this is purely ego-based thinking. It is not your place to be a martyr, nor is anyone else’s burden yours to claim as your own. Everything is not about you. Instead, it is about the ability you have to rid your personal world of suffering and fill it with genuine love and compassion. Remove yourself from the binds of the shadow aspect and lay down your load. Open your heart and let Temperance do what she does best—heal with the power of transformation.

Tarot Triumphs: Glyn acted as interpreter of my dream when I plucked up the courage to write it down and send it to him. It was the start of an association that would last many years, during which he was a guide to me in matters esoteric and spiritual, especially Tarot and Kabbalah. I use the word ‘guide’ advisedly, since Glyn did not want to be anyone’s teacher in the conventional sense, let alone a guru. He was a Hermetic guide in the sense that Hermes Trismegistus himself guides the initiate through different stages of transformation; Glyn’s chosen role was to show others the way, rather than doing the job for them. Sometimes he did this through joking, or playing the trickster, or even by being downright rude. Thus, Glyn, as my third and most enduring Tarot master, encouraged me to look further. He operated by throwing out tantalizing fragments, provocative arguments, and enigmatic statements and rarely by giving me all the information on a plate. I had to find out a great deal for myself, and through my own experience.

Tarot Card Meanings: There are many techniques that you can use to read the Tarot.  Some people choose to use the Major Arcana to explore a deeper side of themselves and the Minor for readings relating to more specific events or to readings that cover the immediate future in our lives.  Most readers use the pack as a whole to establish an overview of a given question and to see how the greater influences in our lives are working within our day to day lives.  In this chapter we’ll look at the meanings of the Minor Arcana.
