Tarot Triumphs: But to follow the guidelines and interpretations in this book, I recommend that you buy a Marseilles-style pack. The one most commonly available was originally marketed by B. P. Grimaud, a French playing-card manufacturer. This pack was republished around 1969 and is still widely sold in various editions, though Grimaud is now subsumed into the company France Cartes, or France Cards. One of their decks, called the Ancien Tarot de Marseille, is a reproduction of an eighteenth-century pack with some adjustment from the Grimaud artists and a resulting color scheme that is predominantly blue, red, and yellow. It is a good standard version of Marseilles Tarot, but any Marseilles Tarot pack should do fine for our purposes. US Games also makes a couple of good decks. If you cannot find a deck in a bookstore or gift store, then try online sellers. Amazon’s French site (www.amazon.fr) is a particularly good source because of the long-standing publication of traditional Tarot packs in France.
Tarot for Beginners: Monotony may begin to manifest in a relationship. The phrase ‘the honeymoon phase’ applies here, as after the excitement of something new wears off, theres an adjustment period of a new ‘normal’ setting in. Bonds that arent innately strong may fizzle out. This card also teaches that long-lasting relationships are built on more solid foundations than mere passion.

Tarot Beginners Guide: Numbered 12, this card seems to frighten most people, probably due to its illustration. It basically shows the need to adapt to changes in order to find inner space. We are unable to do a great deal to alter our circumstances. However, we must try to make adjustments and sacrifices in order to gain the improvement we seek. This has to be voluntary and understood. We may feel trapped, anxious, fearful, and be unable to move forward, but we may also be sitting on the fence, either emotionally or in a material sense, awaiting changes which will allow us more freedom. The card indicates we may have to sacrifice something we consider important in order to move forward and develop. In the same way as the perspective of the man and his view of life have changed, so must ours. Our spirituality will be increasing, and we may have to make material sacrifices. We are undergoing an expansion of consciousness. Should the card be reversed, we may be looking for escape, and be preoccupied with self. Falseness and lack of effort on our part will prevent our moving forward. We must make the effort if we are to progress.
