This is a card about the manifestation of the fruits of our labours, in whatever area they have been directed. If we aim all our energies in a single stream of force toward one end, there comes a point, inevitably, where we shall attain our objective. Often, commentaries on this card warn that once sufficient wealth has been attained, you should make sure you distribute excess fairly and generously. This is because energy which remains unused eventually corrupts and dissipates. But there’s another aspect to the right use of energy which is not often addressed – to do with the way the Will works. There’s a common misunderstanding about the use of Will among us – we tend to think that applying Will is something that we only do consciously. Not so! The human Will works all the time. It runs around happily creating whatever seems most pressing in your mind. This has a rather unfortunate side effect. For many people, the most pressing emotions and responses in their minds are connected to fear, pain, unhappiness or deprivation. Once seized by feelings such as these, it can be very difficult indeed to keep your mind off them, and engage in positive thoughts, affirmations and actions.

You know the feeling…something comes along and hurts you. Then you suffer. You keep circling the issue in your mind. You build up a nice collection of fears. You make a lot of (often wildly illogical) painful associations. And you do not find a relevant affirmation and repeat it with extraordinary fervour until you have your feelings back under control. You do not go and do something nice for yourself. You do not deliberately force your thoughts and feelings onto a more positive track. All the time that cycle is taking place, your Will is wildly scampering after all those negative feelings and channelling your energy out into life, attempting to create the things it thinks you want! Dissipation of power causing chaos!! The Lord of Wealth teaches us the invaluable lesson…..by bringing our thoughts and emotions to a conscious level, and by making positive choices about how we direct those energies, we create our world. So we need to decide what we what, and then think about that…..not linger on the things that we don’t want. And we need to trust our own energy to fly out into the Universe and come back to us completed. Then we are endlessly wealthy.

Elements of the Psychic World
Book Details
Elements of the Psychic World: In another of his celebrated investigations, Fodor was called to Baltimore, Maryland, to investigate a well-publicized case involving the Jones family (the Baltimore poltergeist). For several weeks the family had endured a number of terrifying incidents, including furniture purportedly moving of its own accord and curious knocking sounds within the wall. In his study of the case, Fodor concluded that the activity centred around 17-year-old Ted Pauls. He attributed the activity to recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis, random outbursts of psychokinetic energy from the subject’s unconscious mind. Fodor’s use of the term and his conclusion that this was causing the poltergeist outbreaks opened new ground in the field of parapsychology, and many of the terms and definitions coined by Fodor to explain elements of the cases he investigated are still in use today.

Reversed Cards: I know it’s hard to believe that there could possibly be a downside to this card, but there is a lot of fear that surrounds having it all or reaching your ultimate goal. Sometimes we don’t know what happens next or even if there is something that comes after what we have just achieved. These sorts of questions can become like a built-in sabotaging trigger that stops you from ever truly reaching the finish line of the Ten of Pentacles. If this card has come up for you, now is the time for contemplation and finding a way to work through this fear.

Tarot Triumphs: Jo’s reading has gone deep into my memory—so deep that I can’t actually recall what he told me! But it changed my perceptions radically, and from that point on the Tarot was imprinted on my psyche. Jo had a seriousness that was sharpened by the American situation, I believe, and he read the cards not just as a fanciful tryst with esoteric imagery, but as a vital tool for life in uncertain times.

Reversed Cards: The card of legacy and inner dialogue is ruled by the planet Mercury. This makes sense when you think about how the hermit is about guidance, messages, and communication. When we are tapped in, the messages of the Hermit come in loud and clear. When we are disconnected, the messages come in unclear, confused, and oftentimes jumbled. This tends to happen when Mercury is retrograde. So if you have drawn the Hermit in the retrograde aspect, there is a good chance that you are having trouble receiving information. You may actually feel like you have lost your inner guidance, and this might make you feel alone in the dark and without the Hermit’s loving, guiding light. Just like the Magician, Mercury plays havoc with the Hermit three to four times a year, which means you have to be extra careful with how you talk to yourself, others, and your guides while Mercury is retrograding. It is best to slow yourself down when this happens. Which is all perfectly okay with the Hermit. He isn’t really in a hurry: he is willing to hang about as long as it takes for you to level up the karmic scale.
