Career, Work Or Retirement:

In relation to work questions, The Page indicates that you may soon be dealing with some conflict at work if you are currently employed. If you’re looking for work, you may need to behave with a great deal of humility in interviews to land the position you’ve been hoping for (but don’t put yourself down.) Be cautious with contracts.

If so, in this case, The Page will represent a person who is younger than the querent, who is likely to have hair on the darker end of the spectrum. The Page also often indicates that a message is coming. In this instance, it may not be what you were hoping to hear.

Complete Book of Tarot: When reversed, the Star card suggests that you are not feeling hopeful about a positive outcome. You may be suffering a crisis of faith or feeling beset by doubts that things will not work out in the end. Now is a time to assess your situation realistically and banish any false hopes or expectations based on illusion. Are you able to see the glass only as being half empty? Are you unable to recognize the guiding trail beneath your feet? Keep in mind the moral of Aesop’s fable: the gods help those who help themselves.

Portable Magic: In the Golden Dawn Tarot, the Pages (called Princesses by the Golden Dawn) have a somewhat different attribution from the other court cards. They are known as the Thrones of the Aces of their suits. Thus, the Page of Swords is the Throne of the Ace of Swords. This difference reflects the distinction between the three higher active elements that occupy zones above the Earth, and the inert and motionless Earth element, which has no active higher zone. The Pages, in their own nature considered apart from their suits are of the Earth element. They mark the transition between the court cards and the number cards. After them follow the Aces, which are the roots of the powers of the lower, earthly elements expressed in the ten number cards of each suit.

Complete Book of Tarot: In addition to using astrology to understand the cards, the Golden Dawn included the Kabbalah to explain tarot symbolism. The interpretations of the numbered pip cards reflect the meaning of the corresponding number on the Tree of Life. That idea, of connecting the tarot with the Hebrew alphabet and the Kabbalah, can be traced back to Athanasius Kircher, a German Jesuit scholar of encyclopedic interests. Born around 1601, Kircher displayed an early interest in science, medicine, philosophy, and ancient cultures. He learned Hebrew from a rabbi and became fascinated by ancient Egyptian culture, eventually speculating that Egypt was the source of ancient mysteries. Kircher’s adaptation of the Tree of Life is still used by modern ceremonial magicians and tarot practitioners.
